Residential ADU Renovation- La Mesa, CA

Back to home

This project involved the complete interior design of a residential accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in La Mesa, California. Working from a provided floor plan and a designated mid-century ranch style direction, the interior concept was developed through a collaborative design process, balancing functionality with the warmth and simplicity characteristic of the era.

Interior finishes—including flooring, countertops, and backsplash tile—were selected through an in-person material sourcing process at Daltile, ensuring material consistency, durability, and visual cohesion throughout the space. Emphasis was placed on clean lines, natural textures, and a palette appropriate for both the architectural style and the Southern California context.

The finalized design was fully modeled independently in SketchUp, translating the shared design vision and material selections into a detailed 3D representation. The model was used to visualize spatial relationships, material transitions, and overall flow, resulting in a cohesive interior design solution tailored to the ADU’s layout and intended use.

This project was developed through a collaborative design process, with joint concept development and material selection. The final 3D model and interior visualization were independently produced.
